Top 5 Corrupt Asian Countries

                                         INDIA

Corruption in India is an issue that adversely affects the country's economy and the credibility of central, state and local government agencies. Not only has it held the economy back from reaching new heights, but rampant corruption has stunted India's development.[1] A study conducted by Transparency International in 2005 recorded that more than 62% of Indians had at some point or another paid a bribe to get a job done in a public office.[2][3] In a study conducted in 2008, Transparency International reported that about 40% of Indians had first hand experience of paying bribes or using contacts to get services performed by public offices.

Largest contributor to INDIAN corruption are government bodies( like  Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and the National Rural Health Mission) etc.

                                     VIETNAM

Vietnam is characterised by corruption, a weak legal infrastructure, financial unpredictability and conflicting and negative bureaucratic decision-making. Surveys reveal that petty corruption has decreased significantly throughout the country, while high-level corruption has increased.

Corruption is considered an obstacle for doing business in Vietnam, and the use of facilitation payments are widespread when dealing with frontline civil servants.[2] Corruption has moved up the political agenda in Vietnam, and the legal framework for tackling corruption is now better developed.

                                                         THAILAND

Thai law provides criminal penalties for conviction of official corruption. Implementation of the law increased under the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), although officials engaged in corrupt practices with impunity.

Even though Thailand has the legal framework and a range of institutions to effectively counter corruption, all levels of Thai society continue to suffer from endemic corruption.

                                                           PAKISTAN

Corruption in Pakistan is widespread, particularly in the government and lower levels of police forces.
It was the unrepentant display of plutocracyamongst its powerful bureaucracy and the West Pakistani Punjabi Muslim landowners that partly led to the secession of East Pakistan into the nation-state of Bangladesh.

Later, nationalisation policies prepared under the government of prime ministerZulfikar Ali Bhutto paved the way for the corrupt elites to politicise the nation's economic planning resulting in a public outcry against corruption.
This led the military dictator Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq to draft policies regarding denationalisation of institutions which only ended up benefiting a few rich business magnates such as the future prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, who was also a protégé of the military dictator.

                                                         MYANMAR

Corruption in Myanmar is an extremely serious problem. Owing to failures in regulation and enforcement, corruption flourishes in every sector of government and business.
Many foreign businesspeople consider corruption “a serious barrier to investment and trade in Myanmar.

A U.N. survey in May 2014 concluded that corruption is the greatest hindrance for business in Myanmar.
It is common in Myanmar to charge illicit payments for government services,to bribe tax collectors to secure a lower tax payment, and to bribe customs officials to avoid paying customs duties.
